July 4th Swiss fondue party (aka set-up). Amelia DiGiano makes sure both Zach and Nome are there. NOME I had just gotten back into town from overseas and was exhausted but reluctantly dragged myself there... boy am I happy I did;) ZACH Meanwhile Amelia and I lived 3 doors apart, and when she invited me to a hangout with some friends I was already there. Walking into the dining room I noticed a particularly cute girl and now I'm marrying her. So that worked out well ;)

After some beach volleyball, fairs, and two way encouragement by Amelia, Zach asks Nome out. "Will you go on a date with me? I will pick you up at 3:00 am on Monday morning and we'll go up Naya Nuki" ZACH I figured if I wanted an all time adventure buddy, we might as well go on an adventure! There's no other green flag like a girl who says yes to dawn patrol. Turns out she loves Jesus! I knew she was definitely a keeper when she posed a morning swim in Fairy Lake. NOME I mean, the perfect date - too early morning and going up a mountain?? And he brought croissants. I also found out he's a Jesus follower! I'm intrigued...

Second date. Picnic with THE blanket at Hyalite. Nome and Zach got chattin'. A meteor shower and some hours later the sun came up... And they were still talking. NOME I was starting two jobs the next day, I slept through one of two first shifts...it was worth it. ZACH So not only is she fun and adventurous, but we can also talk for hours on end and not get bored? I was falling for this girl by the minute.

Zach asks Nome to become “official +1” (on the roof of course…their favorite dining place). Thus commenced many, many adventures.

The one in Sri Lanka. Surfing, Kotthu and jungle oh my! NOME He broke my toe with a moped but I'll forgive it 'cause he flew across the world for me. ZACH Yeahhhhhh, I broke her toe with a moped. Not my shiniest moment, but she forgave me and I love her every day for it.

The ones in the kitchen. NOME You can learn a lot about someone by the way they cook... ZACH I learned a lot about cooking

The ones on summits. ZACH May it be noted that I am terribly afraid of heights.

The ones in the PNW. NOME our favorite road trip to take with Amelia - visiting Si and Kate and surfing on the Olympic Peninsula. ZACH You can learn a lot about our growth as a couple just by looking at the driving patterns of each trip. We gradually (and stubbornly) shifted from driving through the night entirely, having good and hard conversations, to actually driving through the day. While still having good and hard conversations.

The skiing ones. NOME there's nothing that brings you together like trying not to die in an avalanche in the backcountry. ZACH Found me a skier girl.

The running ones. NOME Apart from cooking together, the next best way to get to know someone - learning what they're like 20 miles deep into a 30 mile run. ZACH Maybe if she takes my grimace for smile she'll think I'm having fun!

The ones with family. NOME the first time Zach came for an Ohman family reunion, he slept on the porch (don't worry it's screened in). But the second time he was upgraded inside to the floor...A sure sign that he'd won their hearts. ZACH Yup, I knew they started taking to me when I got to sleep on Johns floor.

There's been quite a few adventures over the course of two years. We've been training, preparing, and I'd say we're pretty ready for THE adventure.
